Standing high among the last few companies selling instant cameras, Fujifilm’s InstaX Mini 11 is a whole lot better than its previous generation although it still looks pretty similar to it. The smartphones capture great pictures these days and it is only natural to wonder why go for an instant camera to take still pictures. Well, the difference is that your smartphone will only retain a digital copy of the pictures and the Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 camera will give you great paperback photos.
We got to test the Instax Mini 11 camera in purple color. The device is light in weight and easy to carry around. It has a thumb grip on the right which is better than that on Instax Mini 9. The power button is on the front with the camera lens right next to it. The shutter button, flash and viewfinder are at the top right side, and a tiny mirror for selfies is just above the lens. There is removable panel on the back to insert the photo films. You get to buy a pack of 10 films in one go. The ticker next to the panel indicates the number of films remaining inside. The right edge of the camera has space for 2 AA batteries. The camera is available in these colours- Blush Pink, Charcoal Grey, Ice White, Lilac Purple and Sky Blue.
Features and Performance
Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 camera is very easy and convenient to use. All you have to do is turn on the camera, point it towards your subject and press the shutter button. Once you do that, you have to wait for up to 2 minutes for the picture to be printed. Talking about the quality of the pictures, it is decent but does lack detail. Once the picture is printed, it comes out to be slightly on the darker side. There is, however, no option to manually change the exposure settings. The camera works on ‘Automatic Exposure’ feature which senses ambient light and sets the shutter speed and flash accordingly. Also, you cannot turn off the flash and that results in the over exposure at times.
Having said this, the picture quality is good and the ambient light is sufficient for it to work well. The indoor pictures turned out quite well with the outdoor pictures ending up slightly overexposed. The images are on the softer side with the subject shown as bright because of the flash. The selfie shots came out fine but only after we wasted a couple of films trying to understand how the camera and flash work as per different light conditions.
Priced at Rs. 5999, Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 camera is currently available for Rs. 5699 on Amazon.in. At the mentioned price, the Instax Mini 11 camera is a great buy and gives out paperback pictures of decent quality. With a feeling of nostalgia, the vintage look of the pictures is a joy to behold. While the camera is not made to give out high quality pictures with manually controllable focus and exposure settings, we recommend you to buy it if you are looking to get a picture in hand as soon as you press the shutter button.
