Amongst the roar of approximately seven thousand fans Xiaomi spectacularly launched their most awaited device yet, in India named as the RedMi Note 3 or the RedMi Note 3 Pro (Pro is especially the name given by it’s fan because of the amazing features and staggering technology the device has got). The device is the first one to use Qualcomm’s latest innovation Snapdragon 650 supported by a massive 4050 mAh battery, the whole system has been packaged in a full metal body with smooth edges.

The event was pretty impressive, other than the aforementioned device the highlight of the event was the announcement of launch of Remi Note 5 in a month in India. The brand also launched a Bluetooth speaker worth Rs. 1,999 and a behemoth 20,000 mAh (not yet available online) lightweight power bank.

Coming back to the device, the Xiaomi RedMi Note 3, it has been called as Dream Device by the fans and has taken rounds on the internet since it’s launch. To make the things easier we have jotted down a list of features which makes this device worthy of so much praise and attention.

First to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 650

It is the first device to use the Snapdragon 650 from Qualcomm that features the next level technology from the manufacturer. The Hexa-core processor  utilises 4 Cortex 1.2 Ghz A53 processors that are used for the back end processes that are light and 2 1.8 Ghz ARM A72 processors for heavy processes. This makes the device very power efficient since when there is less amount of work to be performed by the device, it utilises it’s low power efficient processors and when there is a lot of multi tasking and heavy processes running only then the A72’s are used which otherwise are dormant. Other than this the device boasts 510 GPU for empowering the high performance games. The configuration and technology used in the Snapdragon 650 is such that it has proved to be equally efficient as the 810’s which is why the the device when compared with it’s counterparts having Snapdragon 810 in them performs more or less like them.

Behemoth Battery

The device carries a massive 4050 mAh battery which is of almost 29 percent higher capacity than it’s predecessor. Xiaomi has used the high density battery (690 Wh/L) to achieve thickness of 8.67mm with a full metal body design. The battery performance is complimented and optimised with the Snapdragon 650 processor and the MIUI, that is the reason the company claims it to have a battery life of more than a day even with maximum usage.

Fingerprint Sensor

It’s first of a kind RedMi to feature a full metal body design with smooth edges to ensure a proper grip

There is no smartphone under 10k to feature a finger print sensor and that too so precise and accurate (20 minutes at the demo section were enough to check the accuracy and precision of the finger scanner). It offers storage of 5 fingerprints and the company claims the unlock the device in just 0.3 seconds with the finger print. The finger print sensor has been placed beautifully at the back of the device just below the flash and in perfect symmetry with the camera.

The finger print sensor offers various other usages as well, it can be used to lock different third party apps and enable the child mode. It can be used as a shutter button for selfies enabling you to easily take HD Selfies using the rear camera. The scanner is really secure since it encrypts data at the chip level for enhancing the security.

Full body Metal Design

It’s first of a kind RedMi to feature a full metal body design with smooth edges to ensure a proper grip and avoiding any fall because of it’s smooth surface. The metal body looks subtle and classy to carry around and all the three colors look great with it, my favourite being the gold one. 🙂 The overall dimensions of the device comes to 150 X 76 X 8.65 mm and it weighs just 164 gm ( a lot less than other devices featuring the same design concepts with metal body). The brand has put in some great efforts and technology to bring out the best in the device and all the above features are the testimony to it.

Sunlight Display

The device features a 5.5 Inch full HD (1080 X 1920) IPS display with with 178 degree of wide angle viewing. It uses the Sunlight Display which is known for it’s great performance under direct sunlight. This type of display adjusts each pixel in real time so that the screen is clearly visible under strong sunlight. (Stay tuned for a demo on this in the review.) The device also features reading mode to put less strain on your eyes while you do reading under low light conditions, since blue light puts more strain on your eyes compared to yellow, the screen reduces the blue colour component thereby giving you a stress free experience.

16MP Rear Camera With PDAF

The device has 16 Megapixel rear camera with F/2.0 aperture supported with two tone dual LED flash and a 5 Megapixel with F/2.0 front camera. The rear camera comes with PDAF technology which is the Phase Detection Auto Focus Technology as fast as 0.1 Secs. The inbuilt camera apps comes with many features such as beautification to enhance your pictures by applying smart filters.

It’s just INR 9,999

The package of aforestated features comes in this device with a price tag of Rs. 9,999 and this is the USP of the device. The device comes in 2 memory variants, one having 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM and the other has 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM priced at INR 9,999 and INR 11,999 respectively. It comes in 3 colour options the Grey, Silver and Gold.

Looks like it’s one of those  device which will warp the scene of sub INR 10,000 category. Have any queries or questions related to the story? Feel free to mention them in the comment section below.
