Samsung yesterday announced what we believe was the most awaited wearable of 2016, the Samsung Gear S2 and its another version Gear S2 Classic, to enable user to personalise their lifestyle and mobile experience. The devices are have been made in India and follow a smart circular design with customised and intuitive UI. The devices which are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC enabled support different modes for Cal, Alerts an notifications.
The Gear S2 boasts a durable stainless steel body complimented by the circular design. The Gear S2 would cater to the group of people who have an admiration for minimal and modern design while the S2 Classic with a leather band is for the set of people who prefer a more timeless design. The Gear S2 is just 11.4 mm slim and is light and compact. The 1.2 inch SUPER AMOLED screen with 302 PPI resolution and supported with Gorilla glass also offers a vivid experience. The company claims it to be the most open wearable device which can be paired it with any 20mm watch straps other than those available with Samsung.
The Gear S2 also boasts its rotating bezel that offers one of the most innovative and fun interface to interact with. The design ensure that the users are offered a quick and precise method to access the application and the notifications.
Powered by Tizen and an optimised 1 Ghz core processor, the S2 is compatible with handset running Android KitKat with minimum RAM of 1.5GB. It is supported with a 250 mAH battery that lasts upto 1-2 days with full charge and to improve the battery life we have Samsung’s signature Ultra Power Saving Mode that gets you more juice.
It offers a bundle of fitness apps to keep you stay healthy and active some of which have been developed specifically for the Indian consumers along with the partnership of SRI, Bangalore. The S Health app, 24H Heart Rate monitor will help you track your calorie count and also encourage you to cut it through around the clock. The gear offers an improved tracking with more excercise modes like freehand and weight training, rep counts etc. Also you can download third party apps such as Nike + for Running lifestyle monitors and workout trainers.
Price and Availability
Gear S2 will be available in two colors, Dark Grey and Silver with a sporty band, while the classic version will be available in Black case with a leather band. Apart from this, the company provides various band options for both the versions, like Red, Mendini and Warm grey for Gear S2 and Grey, Brown leather for the Classic variant. Samsung Gear S2 has been priced at INR 24,300 and the Gear S2 Classic for INR 25,800 and will be available on Flipkart.
