Sony recently unveiled Sony Xperia Z5, its flagship smartphone for 2015 at the IFA Berlin, accompanied by its two variants which are the Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium, the Z5 Premium being the one boasting 4K IPS Panel which typically comes to 3,480x2160px resolution.
The only differentiating factor between the Z5 Premium and the normal Z5 other than the screen size (which is 5.5 Inch for the Z5 Premium, 5.1 Inch for normal Z5 and 4.9 for the Compact version) is the 4K display. With 4K display the 5.5 Inch display for the premium version comes to an amazing 806 ppi and the peeps who got a chance to get an hands on with the device could not find a reason to complaint.
The Xperia series boasts Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 SoC, with 3G RAM and 32 GB of internal storage and also has a microSD slot for expansion. As expected the Xperia boasts its 23 MP camera with an amazing ultra fast autofocus. Another thing to take notice of the device is the fingerprint sensor implemented on the power button on the side, this idea of single tap to unlock the phone with fingerprint sensor sounds really cool however until we can get hands on it is difficult to say about the accuracy and precision since this would be the first smartphone by Sony to get the feature. The company claims 2 day battery life for the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Premium and to maintain that the later packs a slightly larger battery of 3,430 mAh than the normal Z5’s 2,900 mAh.
The Z5, Z5 Compact and the Premium follow the same design pattern as the previous generations with slight changes. The glass plate at the back and front looks great and as always the build quality is great provided you handle your device with care. The compact is slightly smaller but 8.3mm thick compared to 7.3mm for normal Z5 and 7.8mm for the Premium which holds the biggest battery. The phones will be running Android 5.1 and have planned upgrade to Android M however this time Sony is providing near pure Android experience with this Xperia Z5 series.
Colors, Launch Time And Price
Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact will be launched globally in October followed by Premium model in November. The Z5 premium will be available in Gold, Black and Chrome colour, normal Z5 in Black, White, Gold and Metallic Green while the compact version will be available in White, Black, Yellow and Coral. The prices have not been disclosed as of now and are expected to be listed out just before the launch. And as we can perceive the Z5 Compact would be somewhere around $600-$650 bracket and there on $100 increase for the Z5 and Z5 Premium.
