Micromax launches the Yureka: The best value for money smartphone ever?
What is the Yureka? The Specifications
Micromax has officially launched its cyanogen powered Smartphone, the Yureka, and if specifications are anything to go by, we are probably looking at one of the most, if not the most value for money device in the market, period.
The Smartphone is powered by an Octa-core processor based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 ARM V8 Cortex A-53 64-bit chipset. It also comes with 2GB of RAM to run HD games and 16 GB of ROM for your internal storage needs. The phone has a 5.5-inch 1280 x 720p HD display (267 PPI) with Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. The phone also comes with a cyanogen OS 11 ROM powered by android Kitkat version 4.4.4
The Yureka features a 13-megapixel primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, a high quality Sony Exmor Sensor, Blue filter (for balancing light intensity) and 5P lens and 5-megapixel front facing camera with 71 degree wide angle finish with 4P lens. The phone also will have full HD 1080p recording ability at 30fps and 720p HD recording ability at 60fps.
The phone comes with a decent 2500 mAh battery and also provides expandable memory and dual sim 4G LTE connectivity which is a pretty good deal. Yu officials claim that due to the superior hardware-software optimization, this 2500 mAh battery will last atleast 25% longer than competing offerings. Sweet!
With YUREKA, YU imparts power to the consumers to redefine the mobile space in the country by simply giving the control in a user’s hand; to create their own world, make their device look the way they want to; a cooler world, a world dashed in their identity. YU will usher a new era of android development in India, as it will allow users to root their devices, without voiding the warranty. This will allow users to run endless customization on their device and offer an enhanced product experience, presently not being supported by any other brand in the country. For the android community in India, this would mean an opportunity to unleash the full potential of the device, while working closely with the brand and Cyanogen.
What is Cyanogen Mod?
CyanogenMod is an enhanced open source firmware distribution for Smartphone’s and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system. Often dubbed as ‘Android on steroids’, It offers features and options not found in the official firmware distributed by vendors of these devices.
Advantages/ Cyanogen Mod empowers an Android user in the following unique ways:
- Remove unwanted programs (“bloatware”) installed by your carrier
- Receive more frequent security updates
- Have access to the current version of Android – most carriers take months to update devices on their network to the latest version of Android, if ever. Taking control of your OS allows you to update regularly, when you feel like it’s time
- Better performance
- Better Customizability
- Extra Features, tweaks and beta modes
As a gesture of love, Cyanogen celebrates its entry into the Indian market by introducing the latest and greatest from their team, first to the Yureka smartphone. This makes India the first country to be rocking atleast 10 new tweaks and custom options bundled up in the Yureka. Further the already due 5.0 Lollipop based Cyanogen ROM will be made available first on the Yureka.
