Flipkart, India’s largest e-commerce platform, has now launched an annual subscription service called ‘Flipkart First’ which aims at providing exclusive benefits and priority service to its subscribers at an economic cost of Rs. 500 per year. Besides a 24×7 priority customer service, the users would get a number of benefits which include free shipping with no minimum purchase price, same day delivery at Rs. 70 per item and free in-a-day delivery.

The company is expected to add more offers under the umbrella. The same will be announced soon. Offers like free in-day guarantee and discounted price on same-day guarantee are valid only on buying items from WS Retail which is Flipkart’s in-house vendor.


A number of payment options can be used to obtain the Flipkart First subscription. Users have an option to terminate the subscription at any point of the year.

Amazon Prime vs Flipkart First


The world’s largest e-commerce store Amazon has been providing a service called Amazon Prime even before Flipkart came into existence. At this point of time, the service is available in the US, Japan, the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Canada. There is no word yet as to when and if the service would be made available in India too.

Amazon offers a bunch of offers under its Prime subscription. At $99 per year, it provides free two-day shipping on all products and discounted price on one-day shipping. Along with that, users also get an unlimited and ad-free access to millions of songs, movies and TV shows. Moreover, the subscribers can also read free ebooks through Kindle First.


With Flipkart First, the company is mainly providing better logistics services. The company is expected to soon launch a range of tablets under its label DigiFlip.
