Back in January this year, Apple announced that the HomePod is coming to India. After months of anticipation, the HomePod is finally available for sale in India at a price of Rs. 19,900. While some might think that it is priced heavily, as a matter of fact the Indian price converts to around $260 whereas it is priced at $299 in the US.
Apple India website also has a dedicated page for HomePod now and it lists all the features of the device. The company also sent out mails to its customers that the Siri-powered speaker is now available. The ‘Buy’ button on the Apple India website takes you to a search tool wherein you can locate the nearest Apple Authoried Reseller where the HomePod is available.
HomePod is currently not listed on the e-commerce platforms Amazon, Flipkart and Paytm but it is highly likely that the listings will come up as and when the country moves out of the COVID-19 lockdown. Apple also launched the iPhone SE last month and the same is soon expected to go on sale in India, thanks to this Flipkart teaser.
The 6.8-inch tall HomePod features the company’s proprietary audio technology with a custom-engineered amplifier and a high excursion woofer. The device has an array of seven tweeters and six different microphones to accurately catch the commands. HomePod is powered by the A8 chip which allows smart features using integration with Siri.
Also, back in late January, Apple added the support for an Indian localization of English to the HomePod with a software update.
