On a regular day in April 2014, a Chinese startup released a smartphone boldly calling it a ‘Flagship Killer’. Carrying a heavy arsenal under its cover but at a modest price, the OnePlus One made history.
Even though the company at the time had only planned to sell around 50,000 units with their private invite system, the OnePlus One went on to be purchased by over a million people. The company with its famous motto “Never Settle” truly never did and now 5 years later, we welcome OP7 and 7Pro to the smartphone family.
There a lot of firsts by OP this time. First QHD+ screen, first 5G model. However, with the price now jumping up to US$700 from a modest 300, can OnePlus still be deemed a flagship killer? Let’s find out.
One Plus 7
The official specifications have not been released by the company but there are enough rumours flying around. (These details have been gathered from multiple sources and hence are subject to change once the official specifications are released)

One Plus 7 Pro & 5G Pro
The OnePlus 7 Pro and 5G Pro will feature a QHD+ Super AMOLED 90Hz display. A really important thing to note is that this is the first time a OnePlus phone will have a display with a combination of QHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The OP7 Pro will also have a 10GB RAM option.
OnePlus 7 Pros’ display has also been rated as one of the best displays of 2019. The screen has received an A+ grade from the popular display benchmark company ‘DisplayMate’ for its new panel. The rating consecutively means that the OP7 Pro will have one of the best displays in the smartphone market of 2019.
This is the first time a OnePlus device will feature 5G connectivity thanks to its X50 modem providing superfast connection speeds and crisp voice quality. Paired with the superfast Qualcomm processor, it makes one hell of a combination.
The rumoured battery life ranges from 4000 to 4150mAh. The triple rear camera setup is a combination of a 48MP primary lens plus a 5MP telephoto lens. The front camera is a 16MP lens with additional selfie features.
