Amazon Prime

Whoever said that online shopping is no fun, couldn’t touch and try purchases before buying. The giant e-commerce platform, Amazon organized Prime Day Sale on July 16 wherein one could get their hands on favourite products and at the same time avail exciting Amazon offers on same. The sale went live in 17 countries across the world and around 11 stores (in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata) across India.  For the first time, with this virtual reality experience, customers discovered and experienced the products that were yet to launch. This allowed users to have a 360 degree view of the products in an environment in which they will be used and inspect them in a close manner.

This way customers had an immersive experience of touch and try charm of online shopping and were able to easily evaluate the products, before buying, in a life-size environment where they are likely to use them. Apart from the product launches ,customers  also got a virtual theatre experience where they enjoyed trailers of the 7 Prime Video titles premiering for Prime Day, including the latest Bollywood blockbuster Raazi and the all-new Amazon Prime Original series Comicstaan, in a virtual theatre experience.

Prime Day was an exclusive 36-hour event which  began at 12 noon on July 16 to midnight on July 17 where Prime members as well as the users with 30-day free trial version of Amazon Prime enjoyed over 200 exclusive product launches, blockbuster deals and entertainment premiers.

Amazon had partnered with top brands such as Nestlé NesPlus, OnePlus, Asics ,HP, Marks & Spencer, Acer,Bosch ,GAP and more to launch over 200 new products on Prime Day, available first to Prime members in India.

Amazon Prime is designed and introduced to make life more convenient,easier and more fun for customers. Akshay Sahi, Director and Head of Prime said “Customers can pick up an Amrapali necklace and inspect its intricacies up close, open a Bosch microwave placed in a kitchen countertop to visualize how it would look in their home, check the fit and fall of the latest Marks and Spencer dress on a 360 degree hologram, play with the superheroes in virtual reality and much more. All this, while having fun in the Prime Day world.”

The Prime Day Sale was exclusive to all Amazon Prime members. Amazon has experimented with ultra-fast delivery with this sale and according to the company, some products will be delivered at the customer’s doorstep in just two hours. Apart from this , Amazon has introduced an exclusive offer to Airtel and Vodafone customers to avail Amazon Prime membership free for one year.

For the first time on Prime Day,  members could now shop from hundreds of deals from Amazon’s international selection. Amazon’s flagship Alexa based Echo family of devices, Fire TV Stick, e-book reader Kindle, Kindle Oasis and Kindle Paperwhite will be available at the lowest prices of the year.

Amazon tried its best to bring in a new set of customers by launching a Prime monthly membership plan for Rs 129 in tier III and rest of India cities.

Meanwhile, Amazon  also looked to promote the event by encouraging the customers who visited the zone to share their selfies online on social media platforms using the tag #AmazonPrimeDay and #PrimeDayVR. Visitors also participated in quizzes conducted at the malls and win exclusive offers and Prime merchandise.
