It would have flipped us out, if someone had told us that a smartphone would cost under $5 few years ago. A new firm, which started in 2015, namely ringing bells has finally done it. They recently launched freedom 251,which is a 3G dual sim smartphone (though it sounds like contraception) that will cost you only 251 Rupees (approx. $4) only. Here’s all you need to know about freedom 251.
Body Design & Display
With 4” display screen, the phone, somewhat looks like the iPhone 6 with rounded sides and speaker grills at the bottom. The phone has white plastic body, on the back of which the flag of India is printed.
The flag symbolises origin of the phone, which by the way is not China. Freedom 251 is not only assembled but is also manufactured in India. However we are expecting some clarification from the company, as their newspaper advertisement says that it has WVGA IPS but their website tells it’s a qHD display.
Processor and Operating System
Freedom 251 comes with 1.3GHz quad core processor with 1GB RAM. It has only 8GB of internal memory but it also comes with MicroSD card slot with which you can extend your storage by 32GB. The processor is not powerful enough to run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is why freedom 251 has Android 5.1 Lollipop and is expected to run the smartphone effectively.
Freedom 251’s 3.2 MP rear camera is at par with any feature phone available in the market and 0.3MP front facing camera is good enough to make a video call.
The phone comes with 1450MAh battery, which is decent enough for a phone that costs only 251 bucks.
Booking for freedom 251 is now open and will close on February 21(Sunday), 2016. You can book the device on www.freedom251.com. The phone however will reach you by the end on June 2016.
