Are you one of those Microsoft user who have been trapped in by them to use Cortana on Bing just to make it a big thing? If yes then this piece of article is ideal for you, the idea here is to force Cortana  use Google as a default search engine instead of Bing.

Although the switch is not easy because of the obvious reasons however a couple of third party apps make this possible for you. It’s not just Google, you can also force Cortana to use Yahoo or Duck Duck Go for that matter. Let’s look at the steps one by one and get this going.

1. Set your default browser to Chrome

Step-1-Set-Cortana-For-Google

The first step in this regard is to set Chrome as your default browser. If that’s not, just go to the Settings menu, then System–> Apps. Under Web Apps you will find your default browser listed. Click on the same to activate a pop up menu. Within the pop up menu select ‘Chrome’.

2. Download ‘Chrometana’ extension for Chrome

Step-2-Set-Cortana-For-Google

So the default browser has been set, now go to Google Chrome’s extension page and download this extension from Chrome named as Chrometana‘. After the extension has been downloaded you will see a page popping up asking you to select a search engine, just select Google from the list and its done. At anytime later if you wish to access this page just visit Extensions > Chrometana > Options.

Now you can open up Cortana and search for anything you want and the results would be fetched from Google! If there is anything you wish to ask, feel free to mention in the comment section below.
