Facebook on Wednesday announced its own news app Notify for the iPhone users in the United States. The app currently features content from Fox News, CBS and Washington Post.
The app has a number of ‘stations’ across various categories like breaking news, sports and fashion. Once the notifications are available on the lock screen, they can be shared directly from there.
With a number of news app now coming up in the market, Facebook’s Notify will compete right away with Twitter’s Moments which provides curated and aggregated content for users and also allow them to follow live events.
Facebook earlier had also launched Instant Articles which allowed publishers to share their content directly to the mobile news feed.
