The Indian handset maker today attempted to make the longest selfie relay chain at Rendezvous, the annual festival at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. With an attempt to click 1,000 selfies in a relay on festival’s day three, the company managed to get 817 registrations. The number of selfies cannot be taken as the final one as the Guinness official would monitor the entire event to check if the selfies were taken with the mentioned guidelines.
The selfies were to be clicked with Lava Iris X5 which is being tagged as a ‘made for selfies’ smartphone because of it’s 5 MP front camera accompanied with a flash.
Participants were invited through registrations and were to stand in a specific order during the event. Each selfie include two adjacent people in the line and time taken between two selfies was not to exceed 60 seconds.
“Lava will spearhead this attempt with support from IIT Delhi and we feel that this cultural festival is an apt occasion to do this,” Tarun Verma, DGM, Marketing at Lava said.
The accomplishment of the record would be announced soon after the Guinness team makes it official.
