Update: Facebook is now working perfectly fine after facing an outage for half an hour wherein users were unable to access both the web and the mobile site. The apps using Facebook also ran into issues as a consequence.
Facebook on Thursday experienced a 30-minute outage due to technical issues. Users who tried to access got a message saying “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.”
“Earlier this morning, we experienced an issue that prevented people from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 per cent. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused,” a Facebook spokesperson told CNET.
There has been no official word from Facebook as to what the exact reason was behind the outage. The outage time began roughly around 01:00 PDT as per downdetector. Half an hour downtime is not really a big deal. However, when you are talking about a 30-minute downtime of a website that serves 1 billion people and has numerous apps and services connected to it, it becomes a serious problem.
Twitter was up during this period and the complaints started flowing in rather quickly.
