Have you ever wondered of a polycarbonate HTC One M8? Are you one of those who didn’t like the all metal body design found in the original HTC One or the M8? Well if Yes!! You might have been in for a good fortune. The Taiwanese giant is likely to reveal a new variant of its latest flagship phone named HTC One M8 Ace. The new device is expected to have almost identical specifications to the M8 but with a polycarbonate body which will make it more affordable.
Going into the detail, the new HTC One M8 Ace is expected to have a 5.0 inch Full HD Super LCD display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution (441 ppi). Also, similar to the M8, this new variant is likely to be packed with same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Quad-Core Processor clocked at 2.5 Ghz coupled with Adreno 330. Moreover it will also have 2GB of RAM with two ROM (internal storage) options 16GB/32GB which can be expanded upto 128GB with a microSD card. The same 2600 mAh battery is also there to give you enough power for atleast a day. On top of it, HTC One M8 Ace will run on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with Sense 6 UI.
These were all similarities; let’s now talk about the difference between the two. The first, as we mentioned before, will be the polycarbonate body design. That means no more metal uni-body concept which actually was considered one of the USP’s of HTC One series. If HTC can manage to maintain a solid build quality with polycarbonate, then the gamble could pay off assuming the device will be more affordable.
The next difference is the Camera on the Ace. HTC, just like in Mini 2, has decided to go for a standard 13 mega-pixel shooter rather than 4 Ultrapixel. Also, there will be no Duo-Camera. Well after the release of Mini 2 (which has the same Camera as the Ace), there have been mix opinions regarding the 13 megapixel Camera. We have to wait for the actual hands on with the device to give any opinion on the new Camera.
Note: The specifications mentioned above are speculated as per the rumours and no official confirmation has been received from the company.
If rumours are to be believed, HTC is likely to launch the new variant in the first week of next month with the device initially hitting the Chinese stores for ¥3000 (Rs. 28,200) and hopefully soon after in other regions. The device will be available in White, Red, Blue and Black colour variants.
Apart from the HTC One M8 Ace, the Taiwanese company is also working on a phablet dubbed as HTC One Prime which is rumoured to sport a 5.5 inch WQHD screen with 2K (2560×1440) resolution. Also its might have a next generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and a Quad-Core processor. Interestingly, the Phablet is rumoured to have a duo-camera as well. Also with Prime, HTC may introduce Sense 6.5 UI. But the device is still believed to be in testing so the above mentioned specifications may change when the device is actually launched.
