The next level of wearable device Google Glass has been teared down by teardown.com and to our amaze the device that is being sold at a whopping price of $1500 by Google through its Google Explorer program, has been estimated to be just worth $79.78 in manufacturing. This Estimated cost of Google Glass raises some concern about the price of the device.

Below is the price details of the some of the parts used in developing Google Glass:

[bulletlist]

  • Display/ touchscreen and glass costs of $3

    Battery costs of $1.14

    Camera costs of $5.66

    NAND (storage) costs of $8.18

    Processor costs of $13.96

    SDRAM costs of $4.68

[/bulletlist]

Google in no time responded to this teardown of prices and quoted that it is absolutely wrong. Google, we do understand that the manufacturing cost of a product is much more than the sum of the cost of material used in building it but it is noteworthy that there is actually a huge difference between $79.78 and $1500.

It will be worth a wait to see at what price Google introduces the device for common people. If you have anything to add to this story then use the comment section below.
